Ministry: Pastor Kalvin E. Cressel has served as the senior pastor of the GMS Baptist Church for over 19 years.  Prior to being called to pastor the church, he served as the Minister of Youth for 7 years.  Pastor Cressel received a Certificate in Christian Education from Caleb School of Theology. Pastor Cressel has traveled extensively and preached in many states throughout the United States of America. Pastor Cressel and his wife Pamela have traveled to and participated in Operation Andrew, a Missionary crusade sponsored by International Crusades. Machakos, Kenya.

 

Ministry Objective:  To serve within and outside of the church walls, teaching, preaching, and building/equipping others to live for Christ. I am very passionate about serving and meeting the needs of the homeless and less fortunate, as well as empowering others through knowledge and awareness of the Word of God as led by the Holy Spirit.

 

Who is Pastor Cressel:

He has dedicated himself to building not only his congregation, but also work outside the church doors in the community. Pastor Cressel has worked encouraging and investing in many youth and young adults. Under his leadership he has developed programs such as Hooked on Jesus, Sisters with a Mission, Brothers Walking by Faith, Marriage for a Lifetime, Sinai Church Athletics and Kids Kingdom. Pastor Cressel is also a member of the Compton Police Clergy, which is designed to bridge the gap between the Police and the Community. He has been married to Pamela Cressel for 30 years and has two biological children Kaprisha and Kalvin Jr. eighteen years ago when his family faced the tragedy of losing his sister in law, Pastor Cressel and his wife took on the responsibility of raising an additional three children, Kizzie, Vashon and Quron. Pastor Cressel works very diligently in his church and is a positive role model for young and old alike. Pastor Cressel is gifted in many areas: preaching in a variety of styles; teaching in plan everyday language; anointed prayer and laying hands ministries. Pastor Cressel was educated in the Compton Unified School District and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State Dominguez Hills in Interdisciplinary Studies and received a Certificate in Christian Education from Caleb School of Theology. Pastor Cressel has traveled extensively and preached in many states throughout the United States of America.

 

Career:  Has worked for the federal government for over 29 years, serving in various areas of law enforcement and intelligence.  Currently works as a Special Agent with the United States Department of Justice, Office of the Inspector General.

 

Hobbies:  Enjoys spending time with family, travel, reading, electronics, music, exercise writing, attending: concerts, plays, and movies.

First Lady

Pamela Smith –Cressel has been married to Pastor Kalvin Cressel, Sr. for over 3 decades years.  She is the biological mother of two children, Kaprisha, a Lawyer, Kalvin Jr, a Entertainment Manager. The mother of three adopted children, Kizzie (a Cosmetologist), Vashon (served in the U.S. Army) and Quron (a Professional Dancer).  Pamela has two beautiful grandchildren, Joy and Isabella . 

Pamela has served as the as First Lady of Greater Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church for 20 years of service.  For 20 years, Pamela has spearheaded the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, which annually prepares approximately 500 Income Tax Returns for needy people free of charge. 

Pamela has initiated programs such as the Church Drill Team, Mentor Mentee Program, Total Praise Dance Ministry and the Monthly Church Fellowship.  She works closely in the Ministry with the Evangelist, Deaconess, Minister Wives and the sisterhood of Sinai.  Annually she is the Keynote Speaker for the Sisterhood’s Annual Tea. 

Pamela possesses a wonderful smile and a gift of laughter & lightheartedness.  Her generosity and grace serves as an example for all to follow. She is an outstanding leader, mentor, and friend. Pamela works closely with her husband in fulfilling the mission of Mt. Sinai, which is to teach born again believers how to live a productive Christian Life and to Evangelize to the lost, in the community first and then to the world.  

Pamela traveled to and participated in Operation Andrew, a Missionary crusade sponsored by International Crusades. Machakos, Kenya is a town which has one of the highest rate of HIV Positive people in the world. Over 7,000 souls were saved during this crusade for Jesus Christ.
